BREAKING: EFCC lost in the Supreme Court as the conviction of an SAN was upturned

The Supreme Court has set aside the conviction of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joseph Nwobike which was endorsed by the court of Appeal.

The EFCC had earlier arraigned Joseph Nwobike before a Lagos State High Court. He was charged on 18 counts.

The 18 counts verged on endeavoring to distort the course of jjustice, offering satisfaction to a public official and giving bogus data to an EFCC official. He was indicted in 2018 on 12 of the counts by Justice Raliatu Adebiyi. Nwobike was in this manner deprived of his SAN title.

Disappointed with his conviction, he pursued the matter yet the Court of Appeal maintained the conviction.

Be that as it may, a five-part board of the Supreme Court drove by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on Monday upturned the conviction. The court went further to decide that the EFCC did not have the ability to indict anybody for such an offence.

What do you think about this matter?
